What are active and passive fire protection?Active fire protection uses systems to stop or escape a fire, such as fire extinguishers, sprinklers or alarms. Passive fire protection will help to contain a fire and prevent it from spreading further. For an effective fire protection strategy, you’ll need both systems working together.

What are fire barriers and why do I need them?Fire barriers prevent fire from spreading rapidly in concealed spaces without a wall or a divide. They come in different forms, such as fire curtains, and can boost the fire protection within your building by up to two hours. This buys you time to safely evacuate people and enables the emergency services to contain and put out the fire.

Why are fire doors important?Fire doors are an important part of an effective passive fire protection strategy. By dividing your building into individual fire compartments, a fire can be more easily contained. Fire doors are constructed with fire-resistant materials to help reduce the spread of fire.
